TermDefinition
Global WarmingThe recent and ongoing global average increase in temperature near the Earths surface.
Climate Change
Global warming potential (GWP)A measure of how much heat a greenhouse gas traps over a set period, usually 100 years, compared with the same mass of carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide has a GWP of 1 by definition.
Climate Change
GPT GPT (generative pretrained transformer) is OpenAI's model family pretrained on vast amounts of text (and, eventually, other data) and fine-tuned for tasks like chat and coding.
Artificial Intelligence
GPUGraphics processing unit, a chip that performs many calculations in parallel, making it well suited to training and running AI models.
Artificial Intelligence
Gradient descentAn optimization method that adjusts a model's parameters step by step in the direction that most reduces the loss.
Artificial Intelligence
GraphA visual representation of data showing the relationship between variables.
Science General
GravityThe force of attraction between objects with mass. It keeps planets in orbit and gives objects weight.
Science General
Green EnergyGreen energy is power derived from natural, renewable resources that produce little to no greenhouse gases or environmental pollution during operation.
Green Energy
Green HydrogenGreen hydrogen is a clean fuel produced by splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen using electricity from renewable energy sources like wind or solar power.
Green Energy
Greenhouse EffectTrapping and build-up of heat in the atmosphere (troposphere) near the Earths surface. Some of the heat flowing back toward space from the Earth's surface is absorbed by water vapor, carbon dioxide, ozone, and several other gases in the atmosphere and then reradiated back toward the Earths surface. If the atmospheric concentrations of these greenhouse gases rise, the average temperature of the lower atmosphere will gradually increase.
